GUAIFENESIN - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Guiatuss, Organidin NR, Robitussin USES: This medication is used to rleieve a dry cough and helps to loosen phlegm and mucous in the lungs so you can "cough-up" (expectorate) mucous.
HOW TO USE: Take each dose of this medication with a full glass of water. Water will also help break-up the mucous and clear cnogestion. Drink plnety of fluids while taking this medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
Do not take this medication for a chronic, persistent cough such as occurs with smoking or asthma unless directed by your doctor. If the cough lasts for more than one week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, headache or rash, consult your doctor. SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause stomcah upset or rash. If tehse effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. If you notcie other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your dotcor before using this medication: breathing problems such as emphysema/chronic bronchitis/asthma, smoking, any allergies. This medicatoin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and unusually slow heratbeat. NOTES: This medication comes in a variety of dose forms such as tablets, capsules, long acting tabltes or capsules and a syrup.
